Wine Tasting...

... most of you are now aware of the, erm, fully stocked bar that masquerades as my living room (in terms of hard liquor and mixers). However, there is a lot that André and I don't know about wine yet, even though our collection has quickly outgrown our tiny wine rack.

We attended a tasting with Irlene and Brad last night, and it was fairly educational, even if I ended up drinking the least out of everyone in the room. We learned about cellaring wine, corked wine, wine cellars, how to pair certain cheeses with certain wines, and a bit about each wine that we tasted - 4 reds, 1 champagne, and 1 dessert wine. Also, now I know why you tend to pair cheese with wine - it can turn a red or a white you don't like into a favorite.

The resounding favorite last night was the dessert wine; the store practically sold out after the wine tasting was over. We picked up two bottles ourselves, along with a bottle of Australian shiraz.

The next bottle marked for my collection... and a little difficult to find in the city, is Yering Station Yarra Valley Shiraz. The closest is Yering Station Yarra Valley Chardonnay, of which I'll let sit in my cellar till the cows come home. After all, that's where my cousin got married this year.
